Thermal
About this grade

What it is.

Most thermal paper looks identical on the reel. The difference shows up months afterwards, when the receipt has been in a wallet or a filing box. Two numbers govern that: optical density, which is how black the image comes up in the first place, and light resistance, which is how much of it survives exposure.

This grade is held at ΔD ≥ 1.20 at five minutes, and at 85 % or more residual ΔE after 144 hours of light exposure, with image stability rated at three years or better.

The front side is calendered far smoother than the back — 200 to 300 seconds against 50 — because the print head needs a flat, consistent surface to write on.

Typical applications — POS and receipt rolls, labels, ticketing, logistics and weighing printouts

Questions buyers ask

What basis weights does Thermal come in?

The weights we run are 45 · 48 · 50 · 55 · 58 · 65 · 70 · 73 · 80 g/m². Reel width is slit to your line; anything outside this list depends on the mill and the run, and is confirmed with the quotation.

How is Thermal supplied?

Reels or sheets — slit to your line width.

What documentation comes with Thermal?

Full technical data sheet and batch test report on request.

How do I get a Thermal quotation?

Send the basis weight, the reel width and the monthly volume. You get a quotation from someone who knows the mill, usually within one working day.
