Display and photovoltaic glass is interleaved for transport and for storage between process steps. Any particle carried on the paper becomes a defect on the panel, so the sheet is specified for surface cleanliness first and strength second.
The grade is also specified for mildew resistance, because substrate glass is often warehoused for long periods in humid conditions before it is used.
