A cosmetics carton is judged before it is opened. Surface smoothness carries foil stamping and spot UV without pinholing, and the board has to score and fold crisply so the corners stay sharp on a small pack.
Board grade, caliper and finish are chosen against the decoration route — offset alone, or offset plus foil, emboss or lamination.
